    I’ve never ever considered how crumpets are made. I just know they come in a pack from the supermarket… made by magic I guess

      It’s a semi sweet yeasted batter ( no eggs, eggs in batter make pancakes ) , you let it sit for a few hours for it to aerate , they are cooked in metal rings on a griddle or fry pan an turned over once. The supermarket ones aren’t turned over and grey . These are creamy white.

      When I was really poor I used to make these a lot, they are super cheap, healthy because of the yeast and milk and yummy.

      here is a pic of the last batch I made, they are about 1" high and 3" across

        So why is crumpet a word for sex or a woman?

          Hate to say this, but crumpet is full of holes. About the right dimensions for the kind of people who use that phrase.
