I would expect the damage to be covered by the landlord’s insurance. In the past I’ve had both significant water damage from a roof leak and smoke damage caused by an accidental stove fire I caused covered by the landlord’s insurane with no real issues.
That’s a bit of a relief tbh. I reckon they would have insurance as I’m think this apartment is owned by the owner of the RE, or he’s managing it for a good friend, iirc.
