Some things need a remake. Lord of the Rings needed the remake and is now outstanding. Dune needed a remake, though I don’t know if the new one is good.
The Mummy did not need a remake.
Total Recall did not need a remake.

I’m fed up with remakes in general. Yes, there are purportedly only X number of plots, but you could at least try to make something new.
