Laughing at this IPA report saying Victoria has the most expensive energy, with WA being the cheapest.

Don’t they look at the stats. The cheapest wholesale electricity energy prices in the past two years has been in Victoria. Meanwhile WA is in a generation crisis. Coal cannot be provided to Bluewaters Power, and the gas plants there are having technical issues.

They even called NSW cheaper. Hence I’m guessing they never went to an energy comparison website, and compared state by state.

When I used to work with Horizon Power, the price per kilowatt was less than VIC (I had worked for TruEnergy, EnergyAus, SPAusnet, and Alinta prior), but the supply charge was massive comparatively. At the time, (2014 -2019) it was still cheaper than VIC. I still chuckle at the Port and South Hedland folks cracking the shits and saying they’ll switch provider, despite us being the sole provider haha

I have no idea what it has been like since I left late 2019, but this is unsurprising to me. Horizon Power was in a $2mil debt when I left, iirc. I wouldnt be surprised if they’re more exxy now, trying to be somewhat even or profitable.

I have no opinion on Synergy, never worked with them.

Note: Horizon Power serves Rural WA, except Kalgoorli, Perth, and Down South. We serviced Esperance tho, old retired twats down there.
