does it *need *to run for an hour? how many drippers, what capacity? What’s your rain sensor situation? I’ve run on half that capacity with less loss.

It’ll be 250m-ish of dripper 0.3 spacing 2L emitters 600 kPa at mains. No rain sensor. 3 zones so swimming in pressure but my concern is pumps running dry on the tanks.

edit: I should add the concept of this is life support and it’s probably not going to be a complete solution. It’s the p’s place, big garden, they’re not interested in new and fangdangled so I’m winging this a bit (for better or worse).

You can get dry run shutoff pumps, but may not be feasible depending on your setup. You might actually already have one, they’re pretty common on rainwater tanks.

If it’s just life support, drop it down to 15-20 mins. You’re pump fed, don’t need to give time for gravity to feed through the lines.
