Cardboard boxes might be a better solution. They might be scared of the rustling of a plastic tent. My recollection of kids tents is that they are made of cheapest possible plastic and are not sturdy at all. Also very brightly coloured and could be considered rubbish by passers by. An unobtrusive box behind some bushes might be easier for them.
Haircut and beard trim down. Feel much better. Now I need to find a moment where it’s not raining to feed the strays.
Edit: I think a kids tent might be a solution to them staying dry and being able to keep their food dry as well.
