“In terms of threats to life, [antisemitism is] my agency’s number one priority because of the weight of incidents we’re seeing play out in this country,” he told the Senate.

Call me sheltered or out-of-touch, but this antisemitism that we’re seeing lately seems to have exploded from obscurity.

Even in the first while after the latest round of Israel/Palestine conflicts there seemed to be just the usual/expected amount of hate and bigotry from extremist dickheads on both sides until these last 6 months or so.

Is it all really genuine? Or is it just getting reported on a hell of a lot more?

Again, it could just be my sheltered middle-aged white ass, but I get a sense that the vast majority of Aussies are just tired of people dying in this conflict. Why would anyone think acting up on Australian soil is going to change anything over there?

      Is it all really genuine?

The only recent acts of antisemitism (not to be conflated with anti-Zionism) are from fringe neo-nazis (who have always been racist pricks) and a wave of vandalism and arson which, so far, appear to have been done for pay rather than sincere political motivation, with police saying they’re looking into foreign actors funding them.

All that to say, I doubt it’s genuine. The rest of the things I’ve seen called antisemitism in the mass media are simply protesting against the Zionist Regime (‘Israel’), which disingenuously attempts to conflate itself with all Jewish peoples.
