Sure, I’ll give a funny ad a plug.

I have nfi if ubershare is available in Australia, and have no reason to ever use it.

It’s all in good fun, bro

Where can I buy the thong rack?

Oh, so you’re saying Lemmy is selling freedom from capitalism, and nothing remotely related to ‘capitalism’’ should ever be posted on Lemmy?

No I’m saying Lemmy is a free service and that not everything has to be about buying shit.

We get bombarded by advertisement in every cm of our lives, there’s no need for us to willing spread such evils.

Lemmy is not free. The user community funds the developers of Lemmy by direct donations. As for us, aussie.zone costs a little over $100/month to run. Our own generous users fund us.

While we don’t need to advertise to fund lemmy, be assured that someone somewhere is paying for it.

Lemmy is free, you can download it and host it yourself. Server costs are irrelevant to the software being free.

What’s next FOSS isn’t FOSS because I have to pay electricity to power my computer?

But did you think it was funny? That’s why I posted it.

There is heaps of advertising etc around and I’d recommend you train yourself to ignore it. You won’t be able to go outside or use 90% of the internet otherwise.

The fact this is an ad doesn’t stop me from laughing at it. It’s certainly not going to make me rush out and buy anything or do anything different from what I’m doing.

As soon as I saw it was an Uber ad I turned it off, I don’t care if it was funny or whatever other tactic they used to increase viewer engagement, it’s advertisement and I’m not going to waste my free time watching an ad.
