huh I sat next to her on a flight once, she was googling herself and posted an article about herself on twitter, which is how I found out who she was. never switched her phone to flight mode, either.

she also recorded herself singing, and kept typing out affirmations… she was reading what looked like a self help book about magic or something?

it was an odd flight. she was sitting next to me because she swapped so someone could sit with their family though which was nice, it put her in the middle seat. when we landed she was on her phone and went to the wrong baggage carousel, I had to go get her.

I mainly remember because it was so odd and seemed a little anxious, I hope she’s doing well. the affirmations made me think perhaps she was going through a difficult time. she can stop telling me to turn around as soon as it’s safe to do so as well, I know a shortcut.

  • When I used Google maps, I would change the voice guidance to UK English as I couldn’t stand the nasal tone the default Aussie one had.

After watching this, I swear Google must have fed her voice through a filter to make it sound different.

I’m not sure if Google uses her voice?

      • That was my impression when I watched the video. However after watching, I googled who is the voice actor for Australian Google maps and it claimed she was. But then Google search results are so shit these days it wouldn’t surprise me if that was wrong.

I always use the Irish voices, they’re so much nicer to listen to.
