I haven’t been sleeping well so I’ve cut back on coffee the past few days to see if it helps. Remembered I had some roast dandy around for just such an occassion.

IMO there is no substitute for coffee. If I am taking a break from caffeine (which is not something I generally do by choice) I just don’t drink anything.

Over winter when I want extra hot drinks I will have peppermint or green tea instead of overdosing on coffee, but I don’t count them as a substitute, they are an addition.

Yum. Matcha lattes are worth a go as well, fraction of the caffeine too. Not super coffee-y but a nice toasty drink still.

My partner recommends it too. I’ll have to give it a go sometime. I’m not good with new things but for some reason it helps if I make it myself (when trying new foods and beverages).

Sometimes I’m just lying there at night wondering when I’ll finally fall asleep. Taking a break every now and then seems to help, especially if I’ve starting having more then my usual two coffees in the morning.

If it’s evening (not that I drink coffee at night) that Sleepytime tea is good. If it’s morning I like a good chai latte.

A colleague of mine can drink coffee right up until he goes to bed and he just passes out. It’s not fair. For some reason though I can have a late coffee after a meal at a restaurant. I don’t know why that makes a lick of difference but it does.

I totally forgot about chicory and after double checking the jar it turns out this is a blend of dandy and chicory.

I’m happy with just about any variant of tea if/when coffee is not available for some reason.

For sleeping well, I recommend making a ritual out of peppermint tea in the evening - about an hour or so before bedtime.

I don’t really substitute. I just make sure I don’t have coffee after 3pm and found that works well for me. I have tried decaf and it’s surprisingly not too bad. But decided I’d rather not get into the habit of drinking coffee at night. But I’d recommend trying out decaf if you’re wanting to do it for a few days. At least to see how you like it. It’s going to be the closest thing you’ll get to “real” coffee if that’s what you’re looking for in a substitute.
