Regarding domestication, there was an anime I loved as a kid called Bobo-bo Bobobo and one scene they are eating Natto, but obviously western audiences aren’t going to know what Natto is. So in the English dub they call it like “spiderwebs and beans”.
I have onigiri I made last night forunch. I’m very excited to eat them.

I love natto, so I can say with all the love in my heart that that is a spot-on description.
