    I don’t think it means much at all for some vintage and classic cars. For some owners, the attraction is to be as original as they were straight from the factory. So, that’s not going to change, though it gets harder and harder as cars age and parts (and fuel type?) become scarcer.

    For some, they like the car/style from yesteryear, but will mod/hot-rod them to bring more modern performance/capabilities.

    I’ve watched a few youtube videos of electric conversions to classic muscle cars. In some sense, it almost sounds like a crime. You take out the compulsory awesome sounding, gas guzzling V8 that basically defined the genre, and put in a quiet, efficient electric motor. It’s interesting stuff.

    I’m interested in the retrofitting ICE vehicles to EV. Cost wise, it’s not great, and I think might need some more battery/charging/V2G/V2H improvements, but I’m trying to keep an eye on it.

    Not much, because the numbers of classic cars are tiny compared to the fleet of modern cars.

    It has about as much effect as seatbelt laws, I.e. none.

    Real car and driving enthusiasts won’t care.

    As it becomes more and more difficult to maintain and run a Classic/Prestige car, it gains more status as a Classic/Prestige car.

    Historically, these vehicles were only kept for special occasions anyway. You would have your daily driver and then your weekend car(s).

    This is not going to change.

    People who drive an old Volume shitbox because it is the only car they can afford will be affected. Second-Hand EVs are proving to not be viable forms of transport as battery life degrades over time and replacement batteries are not cost-effective. There is even some arsehole who sent his 10-year-old Tesla (with a dead battery) into space because it was cheaper than replacing the battery.

    Who will also be affected are those that require an ICE/Soft-Hybrid vehicle for practical reasons. Towing a large trailer long distances is not practical. Travelling to remote locations which don’t have charging Infrastructure is not practical.

    Burning Hydrocarbons is still the most space/weight effective fuel source and an ICE/Soft-Hybrid vehicle that runs out of fuel can be easily salvaged by someone with a jerry-can and a pair of functioning legs.
