First day of October and we already have a “Prepare to Evacuate” warning for bushfire (Erica/Rawson/Walhalla area). This does not bode well for the fire season to come. At least we’ve prepared and invested in the Fire Services properly. oh, wait…
Edit: currently three major fires: Heyfield, Briagalong and Erica.
Yeah, that one is mostly mopped up now - they have been working overnight and this morning and most of the trucks are heading home now. The other two they are still sending fresh crews to.
Oh cool, thanks for the update. Have a friend staying in that area over the weekend. I don’t think anyone was expecting multiple fires out that way this early. Wouldn’t put it past a bored shitty kid or adult to have maybe started the fires, though obviously the duration and intensity of the burn is due to conditions.
