Digging out badly laid brick paving to turn a courtyard into garden beds. It’s laid with sand, in a circular pattern that leaves large gaps between the bricks, so it is not difficult to pull them out, just work moving all the bricks.
I’m building the beds up for that reason. I’m doing a layer of wood at the bottom that is supposed to break down and help hold moisture, then it will have about 30-35cm of bought soil/compost mix. So after the bricks there is moving wood and shovelling soil. If all goes to plan it should be ready for my summer vegies to go in mid October.
