Trying to brace and finish everything properly seems way more effort that it is worth, given both the lack of visibility and the generally poor state of the finish in the house in general. If I can find enough effort to do that sort of work I’ll start with filling the cracks in the walls from when the place was re-stumped a few years ago.
eh, two bits of wood fitting in the hole screwed in, hole mostly filled. Actually found this dude who’s kinda doing what I recommend until the wheels come off with the water putty yeah don’t’ do that bit. do about 1:53 - 3:07 ish. and it doesn’t have to be round. Also means you won’t have a step from the MDF on the floor.
