The community pantry was looking a bit sad at Christmas so I was looking for bulk mini toiletries on a hotel supplies site… clicked a product and got sent to a spam site 😬

I’m hoping it’s only on their end and hasn’t infected my phone. I’ve backed it up and installed the update (which I should have done before but was on the fence about the AI crap included).

Also Melbcat is still lethargic and unhappy. She was sick last night and is very thingy about having her ears touched so it’s possible she’s got an ear infection from a reaction to the antibiotics.

If it didn’t download anything, you’ll most likely be fine. If it’s the kind of site I’m thinking of, it most likely just asked for notification permissions then tried to sell you porn or online gambling, or started flashing about your phone having 779,720,71,7103.2782 viruses or you winning something

I don’t want to say those sites are harmless, because if you follow through with anything on there, they can be dangerous, but usually they’re just desperate attempts at money making. For it to be able to infect you with anything if all you did is got redirected to it then closed the tab, there’d need to be a vulnerability in your browser. And usually when there are, they either get fixed within a day or two, or are sold for a lot of money to agencies with 3 letter names for a hell of a lot more than they could get from making you pay 2 grand to get your pics back or whatever
