Okay ill do my first Aussie Zone whats on for the weekend?
Tonight im going to chat to the owner of Valhalla Axe Throwing and have a beer or two. Tomorrow is yoga and meditation at the buddhist centre (balance ;) ) and we are seeing a caberet type show tomorrow night. Sunday is mead maintenance, moving latest brew to secondary storage, i will have two 5L batches from this, the base is strawberry and rasberry. One 5L batch will be getting more strawberry juice in secondary and some wine tannins and the other will be getting 0.5kg of dried sour cherries in there for a bit :)
This weather is perfect for hot pot, eh! We’ve been having one every week. The miso one that we get in particular is goddamn delectable and tastes so close to Kamakura Soup with Noodles that I could cry.
(Also, love the avatar you’ve chosen for in here! So good).
Yeah we’ve been having it a lot too! I love making my own base because the sort we like you can’t really get out here. We both loveeee the soy milk broth (don’t knock it til you’ve tried it. I was out off by the idea for so long and I regret denying myself something so tasty for so many years). And I’ve doing a really good kimchi base.
This one will be interesting because I think it’ll be a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. There’s a mix of chinese, Korean and Japanese people going (+ me, the token Australian) and they all have different cultural opinions on what a hot pot should be. Me, I’m just along for the ride/delicious food.
(And thanks! I tried to think of something cooler and edgier, like something from a Junji Into manga or something, but nah. The 90s wren won out)
I was going to ask if you buy a base from somewhere - the only issue I have with the one we buy is that is has a tonne of sodium in it.
And yeah, that sounds like the recipe (pun intended) for a potential disaster with so many different opinions, but it could also be a beautiful, chaotic moment that results in the ultimate fusion.
I joined a readathon of queer books for pride month. And I haven’t read anything since like the start of the month, :c. Especially since I’ve gotten back into reading I miss it.
I’m planning a mix of household chores and starting on plans to create my new bot army. Which could end up being very time consuming, and it’s looking like I will need to learn at least some basic JavaScript. I have access to LinkedIn Learning which has some good training material, so I’m starting off with some of that for now.
BJJ tonight, shoulder finally recovered and I’ve been doing some light sessions. I think I’m ready for a full 90 min class. Hopefully my conditioning hasn’t taken too much of a beating.
Tomorrow morning I’m day drinking with some friends from back home (online). Bunch of friends from HS have decided to do a catch up (some in person some online) and I’ve been invited. An afternoon/evening hangover will be interesting.
Sunday - will totally depend on how Saturday pans out.
Dad asked if I wanted to go to a plus size market (It’s like this huge market in Coburg where people sell second-hand clothes for plus size folks, sometimes there’s people who make clothes, or accessories). So having a lil hang before my birthday because I haven’t seen him in a while.
I’m a Greeter, so I stay near main entrance points or key transition zones in the library (because parts of it are hard to navigate). I give directions, help people find study zones, and give info about the buildings/collection/Melbourne.
Can’t comment on the new digital tour yet as I haven’t done it, but I made something similar but much more basic to induct new Greeters so I think it should be pretty fun.

Going to meet my friend’s new baby on Saturday and hot pot dinner with my office mates on Sunday.
And a whole lotta translation crammed in between that.
I really wanna read all weekend though and finish off some of my books

I’ve been going hard on the reading lately. I’ve got like 10 books on the go. It’s all I wanna do.
Could be worse, I guess.
Sounds lovely :) I am missing my Icelandic learning but ive just been so busy

That pesky conditioning, so long to build up, so quick to run away :P
I’ve off for like 3-4 weeks. Guaranteed I’m gonna gas out during the first roll. Stupid old body
Yeh a month of sux for conditioning :( It’ll come back quickly enough though

where in Coburg is that then…?
I think it’s the Coburg town hall? Just look up “plus size market Coburg” and you’ll get it.
Seeing the Australian Ballet tonight with a friend, then State Library volunteer shift tomorrow, then brunch with friends on Sun. Should be a fun one!
That sounds a good weekend. What does being a library volunteer involve? and can you advise if the new digital tour is any good?

Lecture at the immigration museum, babysitting overnight and the Reclink Community Cup
Community cup is always fun!
