Got to work and settled in all ready to solve the worlds problem and what do I hear outside my office window? … Someone mowing their goddamn lawn! JESUS TITTY CHRIST just give it a rest ffs the constant slappyboi of small motors making loud noises is driving me nuts.

Cant wait for the mandates for everything to be electric if for no other reason that it wont be so obnoxiously loud and wasteful to make your lawn (also a waste but thats a rant for another day) a couple of millimetres shorter.

My apartment gets mowed by a contractor, and as much as I do want to see these sorts of things be electrified as much as possible, I’m not sure that a contractor mowing a dozen apartments per day, or a Council employee/contractor doing a whole park or two per day, can feasibly do that with today’s electric tech.

Ain’t nobody today mowing their personal home who should be buying anything other than electric, though. We can and should honestly ban the purchase of new non-electric mowers for personal use in urban areas today.

And while we’re at it, fuck leaf blowers.

Do you think a contractor could have a few sets of batteries so that you can have like 2 or more sets on charge in the trailer/van while your using one set, head to next job, swap batteries etc, rinse and repeat. We run liked that in film for most of the gear and can keep stuff running all day fine.

Yeah they definitely could. My understanding though is that the amount of batteries they’d need would be quite high. I have a mate with quite a small yard (the block is about 20x30 m and house + carport is about 12x20 m + deck + a bunch of other non-mowing areas like planted gardens), and he’s got two batteries. I think he told me he needs the second one to get through it all in one go, but I could be misremembering what he said.

If we were saying “you need to have 4 batteries so you can charge 3 while one is in use”, that might work. If fast-charging (which degrades battery life) is required to get through the day, or you need to have 10+ batteries, I just don’t think it’s unreasonable to let them keep using what does work. Not while there are bigger targets to go after.

Fair cop, but also looks over at the battery storage cabinet with like 50 np-f and 30 v-locks sitting there ;p

Of course they can, they’re called batteries. Just have a few and out the flat one right in the charger, you can keep going all day.

You know when climaye scientists say we have to move away from all fossil fuels, they didn’t exclude mowers etc

That aside, I lived in an apartment complex and they could have beeb mowed 1/2 the time and it would have been fine. Why did it have to be kept like a golf Green? Why did we even hve fucking grass ?. A little bit of creative thinking and it would be nearly maintence free.

Damn, I’m starting to think you are cursed. No matter where you go, you will have to listen to a lawn being mowed.
