This is probably something you already know but a reminder doesn’t hurt on such a hot day.
You don’t need syrup or real coffee to make an iced coffee or Big M style drink.
Stirring instant coffee and sugar into a very little hot water first dissolves the crystals, avoiding the grittiness and unsweetened taste of throwing them straight into cold milk. Ice cubes or icecream optional.
If you have any icecream toppings or another kind of syrup those can also be a milk flavouring.
We used to pour leftover coffee from the mornings into a jug to keep in the fridge. A glass of that with ice and creamer was just perfect for the afternoons.
Also, as far as creamer goes, try to find a true dairy creamer (if you use it).
I’m non-dairy and decaf (so use bricks of soy milk) but that’s good thinking.
I’ve got a Haro cold brew coffee dripper. 100ml of coffee and 100ml of oat milk is great for hot days.
You don’t need some fancy coffee brewer either. Anything you can use to make big batches of black coffee will work too. Just leave it in the fridge until cold and it’s ready to go
If you want to really up the home made ice coffee game buy caramel syrup. A small dash is all you need to really make it feel like a store bought drink.
Got many compliments from friends with what was instant coffee, small amount of hot water, ice, milk, dash of caramel syrup.
Make a $4 dare/big m for a lot less
It’d taste a bit like a Honeycomb.
Coffee syrups have a lot of flavours too but specialty price tag
They have the price tag of a spice. High upfront cost, but you only use a small amount each serve.
You can experiment with the others, but nearly all supermarket ice coffees contain caramel. Vanilla didn’t do the trick for me.
I have an unhealthy dare addiction I needed to curb a few years back, spent months perfecting my home dare recipe haha
