Looks like Alcoa Kwinana is set to close. sorry to all those people that are going to be impacted.

    I lived down that way for a few years. Those are two of the biggest employers in the town. I wonder whether this has any effect on the local economy?

    Kwinana itself is loads bigger today than it was when I lived there, I can’t see it becoming a ghost town or anything.

      nah, just another suburb, with a bunch of other heavy industry in there. The ship yards arent too much further north. and isnt there a new lithium processing plant just finished?

    That’ll make the second refinery to close there in the last few years. The other was BP. Different products yes, but it means WA is shrinking away from vertical integration of the supply chain in those areas, not expanding it like we should want to be doing to be less dependent on world narket prices.

      yeah. BP’s is in the process of changing to a hydrogen facility, and i think there may be a battery energy storage system being built there.
