I’m sorry but I strongly disagree with this one. While you wouldn’t wear them to an upscale restaurant, there are many other scenarios where they are perfectly acceptable.

Ducking down to the supermarket? All good. Chillin with a friend at their house? All good. Taking a long flight? All good. I could go on but you get the drift.
