Well, I have just confirmed the circle with a cross through it under comments blocks the user and does not, as I hoped, hide the comment. Pressing it again does not reverse the first one, it just doubles down and blocks them twice.
After a bit of searching I found the list to unblock is on the settings page, on a second tab.

Yeah… it’s one of the things I miss is having the ability to hide comments. Pressing the indent doesn’t do anything either.
you press the little 曰 next to the user’s name to temporarily hide
