Found that Coles now stocks Mitani’s Chicken Salt. The original and best. Fairly cheap too at $3 or so. They also do a house brand but I don’t like that so much.
No MSG added
They say that like it’s a good thing…
I respectfully disagree. This is the stuff you want.
According to the creator the original recipe had chicken bouillon and MSG. Going vego makes some sense, growing market and lowers costs. I don’t understand why the dated anti-MSG stuff rooted in half century old racism and ignorance persists in the seasonings section of the supermarket. All the most popular snack foods contain 621 and nobody complains. It seems odd to be worried about the health impacts of MSG with a flavoured salt product. MSG has less sodium than table salt.
Anyone got their own chicken (or other) salt recipe?
does it actually taste like local chip shop chicken salt? ive never found one that comes even close
As I don’t usually do chip shop chips, I wouldn’t know.
