STIC MY ARSE
I’m bored as hell at a Christmas dinner and that made me chortle. Nice.
Where are you from? It’s now 10am where I am in Australia.
I’m in Michigan, USA. Bored out of my mind feeling left out! ☺️
ETA: It’s 18:16 over here rn
That sucks, sorry. Me and some fam on way to meet a brother and then we’re all heading here for a bit of a walk and a swim.
Oh my! That looks amazing!
You do Chrissy dinner on Christmas Eve?
Many do!
Makes sense if you like to work on xmas
I know somebody who always works on the 25th for the penalty and overtime rates, and just does the traditional Christmas stuff on the 24th
Beyond the practical advantages in our context you mention, though, in some cultures it’s just traditional to do the main celebrations on Christmas Eve.
I know it’s largely the case in Scandinavian countries (see here: https://scandinaviafacts.com/norway-sweden-denmark-celebrate-christmas-24th/) and I suspect other parts of continental Europe.
EDIT: I’ve found multiple mentions that in Italy it’s tradition in some families to open gifts on Christmas Eve. There is also a tradition of a 7-course fish meal on Christmas Eve.
