Not to be contrarian, but Melbourne is more than just the city. In fact, Metropolitan Melbourne is made up of 27 cities and 4 shires. (Not to mention regional Vic residents who would likely make this community their home)
I feel like we need something more… representative and unifying.
Maybe the MCG. Or… uh… I don’t know. Someone else more creative help me out here…

I like it, but it would probably work better as a banner than as the icon. It would be hard to see what it shows in a small size
