Some rockets landed near the city of Haifa, as Israel and Hezbollah appeared to be spiraling toward all-out war following months of escalating tensions.
Archived version: https://archive.li/lsf0c
“Months of escalating tensions” is such a disingenuous framing.
People supporting the genocide of Palestinians in the comments I genuinely wish the worst upon you. You’re terrible people
I have enough people blocked that I see none of that. It’s nice.
And shit gets worse.
I can kind of sort of get why Israel would be launching a war against Hamas right now. I cannot even kind of sort of get why they think now is the time to attack a totally separate military opponent.
They’ve done enough damage to Gaza that they can start squeezing in without having to kill everyone.
Now they’re pivoting to do it in the West Bank and Lebanon.
Keep your eyes peeled, if this is successful, the Golan Heights is next.
Rockets? Don’t you mean missiles?
They do have precision guided missiles but didn’t use any in this attack… While AP does call them missiles in the article they are actually unguided heavy rockets.
And as I was trying to figure this out I discovered that most news sources use the words rocket and missile interchangeably, often in the same sentence, and it’s fucking infuriating.
Actually they ALWAYS say Israel has missiles and Hezbolah/Hamas has rockets. I believe they do this to make it seem like they are barbarians hiding behind a hill shooting off handhelds. I am sure they have more sophisticated systems and to keep reporting it that way is biased and inaccurate, despite whoever they might support. 🙈
I certainly don’t pay enough attention to say you’re definitely right but it certainly feels like the headline is always rockets.
But also, can you point to a case where it was actually missiles? because this isn’t it and I’m actually interested.
Hits back? They started the current war with rockets, this is just continued fighting.
I’m not sure what your point is. That Israel perform more individual attacks?
It seems like you have issues using the body part known as eye balls, maybe this is more clear.
I think you’re confusing Hezbollah with Hamas…? Hezbollah are in Lebanon, not Israel-Palestine.
Edit: No, you’re right, Hezbollah fired rockets into Isreal in October, mb
Yup, iirc, they’ve been firing rockets on and off this entire time. Thankfully, the iron dome keeps them from killing civilians, eventually someone is going to get hurt
The tens of thousands of civilians that Israel has killed in Gaza are just fine with you, then?
whataboutism. civilian deaths anywhere are tragic
Accidents are tragic. Terrorism and genocide are reprehensible, no matter who is doing it.
of course. and all players in the area are not making “accidents”. fuck them all, frankly

not civil deaths it’s a genocide
there’s no point discussing if you are just going to try and paint one lot of civilian deaths as better than another. pretty fucjing fascist

Here’s what’s going to happen, I’m going to ask for source, you’ll probably grab something from Gaza officials, and I’d point out that Gaza officials are just Hamas, and it’s not credible. In the end, we’d both waste our time.
Do you really want to bother?
I’m someone else and I’m going to do it anyway. We can all see the hospitals and schools being bombed, the bodies in the videos, and even the Israeli government officials saying they don’t give a shit and will do whatever it takes to eradicate everyone in Gaza.
Yea, I do want to bother, and you can go fuck yourself. That’s what you want, correct? To be a massive tool and when someone rightly tells to sit on a stick and rotate you can act superior because you were “polite” while shitting on an the graves of thousands of children. There ya go, my gift to you, dipshit.
We have ample evidence that hamas was using those places for war purposes. They were trying to fool you into thinking they are only hospitals and schools which is what civialized countries do so that civilians are not attacked as colladeral war damage.
No, there is certainly not ‘ample evidence.’ On the subject of Human Shields, there are some independent reports for past conflicts of Hamas jeopardizing the safety of civilians via Rocket fire in dense urban areas, two instances during Oct 7th, but no independent verification since then so far. None of which absolve Israel of the crime of targeting civilians under international law:
Intentionally utilizing the presence of civilians or other protected persons to render certain areas immune from military attack is prohibited under international law. Amnesty International was not able to establish whether or not the fighters’ presence in the camps was intended to shield themselves from military attacks. However, under international humanitarian law, even if one party uses “human shields”, or is otherwise unlawfully endangering civilians, this does not absolve the opposing party from complying with its obligations to distinguish between military objectives and civilians or civilian objects, to refrain from carrying out indiscriminate or disproportionate attacks, and to take all feasible precautions to spare civilians and civilian objects.
Additionally, there is extensive independent verification of Israel using Palestinians as Human Shields: IDF uses Human Shields, including Children (2013 Report), and in the latest war Israel “Systematically” Uses Gaza Children as Human Shields, Rights Group Finds
Strange how even the Israeli intelligence service disagree with you
By June 19, 2024, 37,396 people had been killed in the Gaza Strip since the attack by Hamas and the Israeli invasion in October, 2023, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, as reported by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Ministry’s figures have been contested by the Israeli authorities, although they have been accepted as accurate by Israeli intelligence services, the UN, and WHO. These data are supported by independent analyses, comparing changes in the number of deaths of UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff with those reported by the Ministry, which found claims of data fabrication implausible.
In recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths. Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7·9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip. A report from Feb 7, 2024, at the time when the direct death toll was 28 000, estimated that without a ceasefire there would be between 58 260 deaths (without an epidemic or escalation) and 85 750 deaths (if both occurred) by Aug 6, 2024
If you think Israeli sources would be more trustworthy, sure, we can do that:
However, Israel’s military has also accepted in briefings that the overall Gaza casualty numbers are broadly reliable.
In May, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said 14,000 Hamas fighters and 16,000 Palestinian civilians had been killed in the war.
Uh… You do realize that literally everyone uses Gaza Health Ministry numbers and considers them reliable right?
I block all these communities. The anti-israel pro-gaza sentiment here is off the charts. Cya ‘interesting global news’ and all the other recent ‘news’ communities.
Do you support Apartheid or genocide? Israel is currently doing both. Pro-palestinian people support equal rights for both Israelis and Palestinians
You must have very unique definitions of “apartheid” and “genocide”. And “equal rights” for that matter too. It’s not worth the argument.
If you consider international law definitions ‘very unique,’ sure lol
Yeah, I’m starting to suspect they’re shills or trolls or something.
Edit: you know what, I’m pretty convinced they’re shills and trolls. Got a bunch of replies during Russian working hours, and they’re just weird.
