Stuck on a bus in peak hour doing the Westgate Crawl. Seriously why do people drive in peak hour? Is it really worth it?

      • A lot of Melbourne isn’t served very well by public transport
      • Melbourne public transport largely assumes you’re travelling to or from the CBD – if you aren’t, it can be effectively useless
      • Standard business hours a thing so that you know other businesses will be open around the same time, facilitating communication, so everyone needs to get to work in a relatively short time window

I hear what you are saying but even so, I still think a lot of cars on the road really don’t need to be there and they could have taken PT especially if it was just into the city and back.

I think there were heaps of accidents this afternoon.

Maps was telling me 1hr30 by the westgate and 1hr10 through essendon. Ended up taking me 1hr 30 through essendon anyway. Can’t imagine how much worse the westgate would of been

Monday it only took 1 hr.

I’ve been driving due to bus replacements and I imagine heaps of people are too. School holiday peaks are usually pretty good otherwise.

Between the drive to the station, train, bus replacement and then final train/walk it would of taken me over 2 hours otherwise.

Is this a replacement bus? The shutting down of various train lines in the west will be adding to the traffic woes. I believe Dynon Road is closed too, another way to cross the river.
