At the moment electric cars are for rich people. You basically you need to be homeowner and wealthy enough for the car and the installation of charging infrastructure. And God help you if you live in an apartment building.
There would need to be large scale infrastructure change for electric cars to become the majority. Charging in apartments, service stations, not to mention could the grid handle it?
Currently there are some places you can charge for free, like my local Woolies has a few car parks for charging. Usually about half are taken. I imagine this won’t continue this as the number of EVs increases. Or maybe it will become paid or part of a shopping membership.
