I find mean faculty super unnecessary and that’s a huge bummer for your students to have that experience
I work at Monash. My STEM students are always so taken aback with how chill we are in humanities. You need an extension? Take a couple of days. Need a mental health day? I’ll send you the materials you missed out in. In my personal, professional opinion, I’m here to give people an education and help them learn. I want them to succeed, not fail. If you’re failing or not coping, then I’m not doing my job properly.
I love your approach! If universities- no actually, if the world had more people like you it’d be a much better place. Your students are very lucky to have you.
