And nowadays if it’s a CUV or SUV it’s probably as much made in America as any of the American brands.
I grew up in Detroit and my parents owned some of the only VWs (old Bugs and a Bus). They got some shit for it in the 70s-80s, but nothing like my aunt got when her dad (an engineer for Chrysler and lifelong devotee) bought her a ‘59 beetle in ‘59. The jocks at her school rolled it on its roof.
I’m trying to think of what my father is saying to himself. I would guess he’s just laughing at Tuck for being “a joke” without allowing any introspection whatsoever. :)
