Two rail companies have been fined a total of $525,000 over a fatal train crash at Wallan, on Melbourne's outskirts, in 2020. The train driver and his co-worker died in the crash.

    Fines for negligence are far too low. The fine needs to be large enough to incentivise the bean counters to actually invest in safe operations. (Applies to all industries).
