Leftists burned immense amounts of political capital in 2020

That’s not what political capital means.

Also, he talks about leftists retconning, but the only retconning about massive and hugely popular protests was people pretending after the fact there wasn’t massive support behind them.

      From the same comment

The position that police brutality is very bad, cops who do it should be fire…

These motherfuckers view it as an employment issue, when in reality it’s a how to remove stains from a wall type issue. Fucking liberals can’t get anything right.

Do they think everything is twitter? Leftists have no public presence in America whatsoever. The only thing I can think is these people are talking specifically about the 2020 Sanders coalition or anyone they think might belong to it. They’re either electoral brained or twitter brained or some unholy combination of both

Holy fuck every single comment has at least one fucking annoying automod response under it.

Is this what they think is funny say leftist and get an automatic message telling them leftists are morally bankrupt?

Do they realize they have the same politics as a small child with a sit and spin?

TBF the Deprogram sub also has that. So less a political ideology thing and more a “literal children trying to discuss politics” thing

The Deprogram ones I kinda get, the idea is if a lib wanders in the bots slam them with info dumps that are mean to dismiss their tired ass talking points. It gets annoying when we have to type out the same 6 or 7 responses to the same 6 or 7 easily debunkable Lib arguments, sometimes I almost wish HexBear had that feature. They’re actual counter arguments not just quippy responses like the neolib ones.

Issue is they get triggered too damn easily and end up clogging up the comments. I feel like it would be better if only Mods could deploy them and did so only once or twice per thread. Or maybe that wouldn’t work either and we’re just better off without it then.

They’re trying to use automod the same way left subs do to promote a party line. They don’t like the word leftist, the subreddit itself is pulled leftwards of the “neoliberal” politics (thatcherism/reaganism) its team wishes to promote.

a not insignificant fraction of /r/neoliberal posters feel like keynesians/social democrats using liberal rhetoric.

Yes definitely. The modteam have coasted on the “liberal” confusion and aim to suck in softer libs then pull them right. It’s the same as we do with building pipelines and catching spaces, except they’re shit at it and don’t do nearly enough purging or party line pushing. A problem they have of course is that reality does not conform to the party line they would want to push, so they would open themselves to criticism and ridicule by pushing it followed by having to do mass purges.

Reality does conform to what we push, we typically have to purge for the most inane anticommunist genocide gorillionzillion people reactionary shit ever, which is obviously quite a different problem. Generally we do a very good job of education because we have nothing to fear in doing it.

Leftists hold a significant amount of power on city councils in most of the country’s large cities.

Oakland, Portland, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. (bit different due to federal involvement but the mayor is far left)

Ok, I’m looking into this. Chicago’s city council has a democratic socialist caucus of 6 people out of 50. Denver seems to have had 1 socialist out of 13 up until this year, but currently has 0. Philadelphia has 2 members of the leftist Working Families Party on the council out of 17. Los Angeles has (I think) 3 DSA members on their council out of 15, and all 3 are in the Democratic party as well.

I’ve never heard of DC’s mayor but I sincerely doubt she’s some firebrand leftist.

This is considered a significant amount of power by these neoliberal goofballs. These are cities that have supermajorities of elected normal Democrats anyway.

This checks out. Americans think a third of the country is Jewish, another third is Muslim. They think a third is indigenous. They think a fifth of the country are millionaires. Why wouldn’t they think the cities are run by communists?

Sorry “Bashar al Assad”, but there is nothing in your link supporting that claim other than the fact that she is a Democrat, which is the banner under which almost all politicians left of the KKK have to run under in order to have a realistic chance of winning (because you usually cannot win as a smaller party or independent). Her policies are left wing.

So you think anyone left of the KKK is “left wing” and therefore “morally bankrupt”.

Muriel Bowser, mayor of DC is a far right vampire. Her most recent thing is refusing to distribute additional food stamp money that was unanimously approved by the city council, while also trying to give 500 million dollars to the Washington wizards

Berkeley, Oakland, and Richmond all have pretty far left city councils. Richmond in particular has a majority and the mayorship (Gayle MacLaughlin was green party mayor of Richmond a few mayors back too). Of course in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t do much but it’s really nice for those of us living here.

the idea that no modern society has not functioned without police is absurd, plenty of European nations did not have a formalized police force until the 1900s, maybe they dont consider the 1800s ‘modern’ but i certainly do, all the formal class relations of today were cemented then. i also dont necessarily agree with a complete abolition of the idea of police, but i do agree with the complete abolition of the american police. its also a little interesting how muddled this idea has become because originally america did not have a police force, they had slave patrols which morphed into the present day police force.

also i fucking hate seeing trans people on /r/neoliberal, go talk to more of our community jesus christ

the idea that no modern society has not functioned without police is absurd, plenty of European nations did…

Also, it is a very intentional choice to ignore non-nation-state societies. Which is no surprise. It’s part of the liberal strategy to pretend you cannot have human society without a violently oppressive institution dictating 99% of your living conditions and aiming them all toward the support and protection of capitalism.

It’s almost a tautology, in a world where capitalism is globally ubiquitous: I’m going to ignore societies that don’t have police in order to pretend that societies cannot exist without the police.

They don’t actually know shit about history, so think that “modern” is the same as “contemporary”, in the same way they know nothing about sociology so ignore non-nation-states like ziggurter pointed out.

I can’t even use reddit anymore lol

This is the link right? https://www.reddit.com/r/neoliberal/s/BIiJCd0X20

using the reddit.com/r/whatever/s/blahblahblah share link (or any “reddit.com” url) just blocks you these days if you’re not logged in and using a VPN ip address. Mobile app “features” are intended to datamine as much as possible so if they can’t datamine you, you just get blocked. People should use an alternate front end or, if you’re logged in, use old.reddit.com and grab the url from the address bar instead of the reddit mobile app (which is garbage and datamines you and whoever clicks your share links). I would switch the url over to “old.reddit.com” but it’s not working for me like it usually does because the link is some kind of generated share link instead of the usual thread url that you grab straight from the address bar.

Unless that’s the joke or something and I just didn’t get it. Anyway, they’re an astroturfed fossil fuel think tank subreddit so if they have broken clock syndrome I’m not too impressed. What does the thread say? What’s it about?
