Now I often like to check the rating of a movie or show after I’ve seen it and rated it myself. And I’ll say, rotten tomato is the worst, IMDB is generally ok. But Metacritic ratings are almost always fairer (so long as theres atleast 10-15 ratings being taken into account).

Also rogerebert.com has amazing reviews of movies even now with all their new writers not just archival ebert reviews.

    lately, i’ve been using letterboxd to track down movies that match my taste, and it’s worked well for me! It’s nice to have overall ratings from the userbase; reviews that range in detail, memes, and spoilers; and user-made lists or specific genre tags. Would recommend.

    I agree that rotten tomato is fairly hit or miss. IMDB seems like very regular, common denominator kind of taste, which is good and bad imo.
