Yeah this is going to get skirted and bypassed constantly. It’s one of those rules that is unenforceable by sheer fact that no one will follow it.

Just experience from my youth where phones were banned in the halls.

Then you’ll have the few hall overseers who ATTEMPT to enforce it and find themselves bullied relentlessly.

It’s working in NSW; why wouldn’t it work in ACT?

From what I gather: Sheeple’s description is how it works in NSW.

Pretty hard to bypass the rule if the phone is locked in a bag that the student cannot open, as is the case in some schools. It all depends on the implementation the school chooses - just flat out assuming it won’t work is kinda dumb.

I know a parent that gets their kid to keep their phone in their bag regardless. Also the school provides no guarantees on their phone storage (if the phone goes missing they will disclaim liability). NSW.

Every kid pretended they didn’t have a phone? I call bullshit.

Have you met children? Of course they lie, but what can you do? Strip search them? C’mon, anyone tasked with enforcing this is taking on the impossible.

Have you met children? They don’t lie anywhere near as much as you seem to believe and most are perfectly fine with following new rules. There will always be those who don’t, but that doesn’t mean a ban like this can’t successful. It doesn’t need to have a 100% compliance rate to have a positive affect in the classroom.

Of course it’s bullshit, suddenly zero students have phones, yeah don’t think so.
