Mobile phones, smart watches and any other handheld or wearable devices will be banned from ACT public schools in 2024, bringing Canberra schools into step with the rest of the country.

From Term 1 next year, students in Preschool up to Year 10 will not be able to use their mobile phone, smart watch or any other personal communication devices at school.

    Have you met children? Of course they lie, but what can you do? Strip search them? C’mon, anyone tasked with enforcing this is taking on the impossible.

      Have you met children? They don’t lie anywhere near as much as you seem to believe and most are perfectly fine with following new rules. There will always be those who don’t, but that doesn’t mean a ban like this can’t successful. It doesn’t need to have a 100% compliance rate to have a positive affect in the classroom.
