Don’t all the major cities have Lord Mayors? Melbourne and Perth do too… This is weird.
They are “Lord mayors” to show the extra impact they have compared to “everyday mayors” of regional districts.
The Lord Mayor of Brisbane is at the top of local government for 1.2 million people.
Compare this to, say, the Mayor of the Mackay Regional Council, which has 120,000 people.
Right, I mean, it’s specifically not a Brisbane thing.
