Will this be enough to run Plex?

I don’t know man, you might run out of RAM 🤣

It supports up to 1.5TB of RAM so maybe I’ll grab a little extra just to be sure.

Plex is a self-hosted video and music streaming service. Think Netflix or Spotify, but you have to get all the video and music files yourself (legally of course).

You can then stream movies and TV shows to yourself, and invite people to watch from you own server.

Thank you. How does one get video legally ? And is none of this subject to copywrite or those broadcasting laws though ? Being serious.

You can rip DVDs and Blu-Rays with specific software to get the video files. You don’t own the copyright to the video file, but do have a licence to view it, which is part of the purchase of a DVD or Blu-Ray. Same with CDs and ripping them into mp3, flac, etc.

Don’t mean to be a pain or argumentative. Aren’t you prohibited from sharing movies though ? That’s the copywrite part that I’m thinking of. ( I’m not Mr Law and Order, I watch all manner of movies on “Kodi”. )

You’re right, technically legal grey area in my opinion. So long as a movie/TV show is not being watched by more than one device, it is technically no different from me giving the original source disc to someone to watch.

No worries and thanks for the reply. I realise you’re not TRK that initiated this. Here’s a thing though, if somebody is hosting it on their own server, it’s accessible to many people.

Anyway, not my concern but I was just curious. Cheers.
