You know if we all stopped eating the cows in the top right of the picture, 75% of all land used for agriculture is returned to us. The majority of crops grown are used to feed cows.
Can’t the renewables fit in the same Space as the agriculture without requiring any extra space for either because the renewables can be above the agriculture?
Yes. Agrivoltaics is a thing and it will become more relevant as the technology develops. But in a place like Australia, it shouldn’t be a problem to find unproductive land to put solar panels on. I always find it amusing when fossilheads suddenly start to care about bugs living in the desert when people want to build solar farms.
Kind of, but theres definitely gota be limits to that.
Like energy production through hydro, definitely doesn’t work like that. Nuclear won’t either, so maybe for batteries, solar and wind its possible for intermixing on farmland, in the gaps, or above.
Also things like power lines crossing wheat farms might be hard to negotiate with farmers.
