On a carnivore diet, there is less/no sugar, so insulin levels come down, so the body doesn’t over retain salt. There is higher level of dietary salt required for optimal function.
One large 2020 observational study, which constitutes a weaker level of evidence, nonetheless showed that higher sodium intake correlated with longer life expectancy and decreased all-cause mortality.

Several of the long term zerocarb people on Reddit reckon they have no need of extra salt beyond what is intrinsic to the meat they eat
My experience after 2 years is I don’t need much salt but I do need some, and I need more the more alcohol I have
I agree, the first few weeks of lchf/carnivore ramping up the salt helps.
I add salt to taste, but even if I dump in too much salt it still tastes good. I just get more thirsty and pee out the unneeded amount.
The good side is you can taste when you’ve had enough salt
