        I’m probably showing my age/nerdiness. The old school adage is RTFM, referring to reading the manual. In ye-olden newsgroup days, it was a common response to someone asking a (dumb) question that was covered in the manual page for the thing.

        RTFA was a common adaptation on Slashdot and the early days of Reddit when people read a headline and started wading into discussions. Somewhere along the way, that behavior was normalised and I guess the term has fallen out of use.

          I’ve probably seen it back in Reddit days, but i only lurked, so had less of a need to know all the terms.
