NB: This is an old(ish) article from 2022, however, i recently visited Kalangadoo and stopped at the station. It was amazing, and well worth the stop if you are near the area
I love his little carriage and what he’s done to preserve the history of the station there. I’d love to visit one day!
It was an absolutely amazing visit! I’d even say it’s worth a trip specifically to visit, but obviously I’m a bit biased. Deffo worth the detour though!
We noticed the “puff puff” in the distance when we arrived so had a walk down, and he must’ve heard us because he came out and offered us a tour of the station. Spent a couple hours there, well worth it
He said it was a 6 cylinder 1.8 horsepower belt driven hand cranked engine. Besides hand cranked, I have zero clue what those words mean, but it looks amazing and like a hell of a lot of fun
(I have a heap more pics, but they don’t convey the experience very well, and also, this instance seems to hate me at the moment and 9/10 uploads seem to fail :/ )
