In short:
A group of Rising Tide protesters have stopped and climbed onto a coal train at Sandgate near Newcastle.
The group is protesting over federal approval of three coal mine expansions in NSW.
The company behind one of the expansions says it will support hundreds of regional jobs.
Federal Labor Hunter MP and former coal miner Dan Repacholi said the government’s decision to approve the mine extensions was necessary to get renewable projects off the ground.
“Coal mining produces the power, produces the steel, to make these renewable projects actually happen,” he said.
“Without coal, they will never ever happen.”
What a load of bullshit.
LibLab morons doing their thing.
I assume you mean the approvals, not the protestors
Yeah! I’m all for the protestors.
