Dune 1984 is not a bad movie 😃
I actually like it more than the new ones.
Hey bro do you want to go for a drive ?
I take offense on some of these. I love Maximum Overdrive and I think the original Road House was a decent 80’s movie. Whoever wrote this just doesn’t have good taste in movies. There was others on the list that I feel don’t qualify. Also Dune was okay.
I kinda stopped reading after hitting dune
Dune 1984 has a lot of good parts, but then craps the bed by rushing it at the end and then wrapping up with exposition.
I don’t think it’s bad just confusing for anyone unfamiliar with the story. When I saw it in the theater they handed out a sheet with all the characters names and backgrounds to help you follow what was happening
For those looking for something off the beaten path regarding this list, I can recommend Lynch’s Dune, Masters of the Universe, Pootie Tang, Howard the Duck, Jason X, Plan 9, Xanadu, Samurai Cop, and Maximum Overdrive. Also, with the exception of Dune, these are best watched with a group of friends.
Four thousand thumbs up for pootie tang. No movie deserves to be that good.
I enjoy Masters of the Universe more than is reasonable. That movie will never get old to me.
Oh evil lynn…
Didn’t even need to slap the collar on you to get you to speak some truths.
Cats does not belong on here. It’s not so bad it’s good it’s so bad you got to watch this train wreck. At no point is anyone under an illusions that it’s likable. Some of these others you watch to enjoy. That one you watch cuz you want to see something destroyed
Much like real cats
Yeah, there’s a lot of good stuff here. Definitely some so bad it’s good material, some stuff that is just good, and some stuff that is just bad (Wicker Man (2006) has a couple moments to laugh at, but it’s not worth the time investment to even get to those). And more than a couple that I’ve never seen that I’m going to have to queue up at some point.
I’d completely forgotten about the movie Fear. I hadn’t realized it had reached any kind of cult status. Looking back at it though I do remember that movie being kind of strangely captivating, but more so just very strange, in a disconcerting sort of way.
Showgirls is actually excellent, though an understandably contentious movie. It’s intentionally uncomfortable, and doesn’t do much to spoon feed you the point it’s trying to make. Not to say that if you don’t like it that you just don’t get it; it may very well just not be to your taste, and that’s completely understandable. It’s far from a straight up bad movie though imo.
Showgirls is a Verhoven movie. As a critic once said “Gina Gershon is the only one who knows what kind of movie she’s in.” Dude likes to mindfuck his audience and his actors. Similarly, Neil Patrick Harris in “Starship Troopers” and Sharon Stone in “Basic Instinct” are the only ones who really grasp their roles in these Verhoven movies. And honestly I think that’s on purpose.
The movie also just feels like everyone involved is high on free all you can snort cocaine.
Yep, Verhoven is brilliant. He can be no less viscerally discomforting than Cronenberg or Solondz, but most of the time he’s much more subtle about how he injects that vibe. I enjoy it immensely.

Wow I’ve never met another DT fan before. I’ve tried to get friends onto it, but none of them were ultimately interested. Their bad movie roasts are fun, and I’ll watch a few of their more topical takes, but I really enjoy Billy more than anything. His reactions are at least 33% of the enjoyment I get out of the clips. And the rest of their rotating cast of hosts for their various shows are really hit or miss for me. And I do wish they’d play more clips. But still on my YT rotation
I feel like not having Miami Connection here is a huge miss. Definitely the worst I’ve seen.
