    Is China genuinely concerned about Australia’s capabilities? Is there something I don’t know here?

      I can’t think why. Our military is well kit-out as a defense force. Invading Australia would be a headache for pretty much anyone except the USA. Australia has almost no projection of force, though. We aren’t at all equipped to drop several thousand troops/aircraft anywhere. Let alone China: who would probably be the hardest nation on the planet to invade.
