It is in English, but Valenciano (and some other regions in Spain) say Vermut (ver-moot) and they produce a lot locally…we were in Cordova in Jan. And they didn’t understand what I was asking for until another bartender said “ah Martini” (brand name) but they were out.
I grew up thinking it was only for martinis but it’s a great fortified red wine over ice and a slice of orange. Perfect for cold weather.
