You’re more than welcome to join Usenet.lol if you would like.
I don’t actually do anything with this account other than post announcements.

My new instance is on hardware owned by me and is Usenet.lol, you can join that if you want. I’m just taking down the public instance as I’d have to upgrade it to make it work well, but few people appear to be using it.
Update: this has replaced Uptime Kuma, and status.apollo.town has been retired. Check HTTP alarms in Netdata for status and ping time to other instances.
Update: the name changed from wefwef to Voyager but it’s the same app.
I am following the Git issue closely and will update the site as soon as a fix is released.
There was first an exploit where you could launch JavaScript in the link of a post, which was resolved in the 0.18.1 release. Links only allow http(s) right now.
Then, an admin account was hacked at lemmy.world and went rogue. I suspect several other instances had this problem.
A second exploit was reported hours ago using custom emoji, and seems to be unpatched. I removed our custom emoji per their mitigation instructions and will terminate everyone’s sessions when I’m back at my computer for good measure. As soon as an update comes out for this it will be applied.
Just updated the docker. Updates roll around here about once a week when I get around to it.
Hello I, it is me
It’s a mobile website, so if you are using something like Noir it appears dark. Works for me. Other than that, the devs will add it soon, I’m sure.
brb creating a community for InverseCramer
I highly recommend Deep Rock Galactic([email protected]) and Helldivers. Both are basically the same game - up to four people get in, run the mission or strike op, get to the drop ship and get out. Don’t shoot your friends. Hilarity ensues.
DRG especially has quite a wholesome community and tons of memes.
Hello! It’s intended to be a general server(although my friends and I are all gamers).
Update: I have opened usenet.lol to registrations, and since it runs on hardware I own, it’s not going away anytime soon. Just let me know if you hail from Apollo Town in the registration application and I’ll approve you, then you can use the lemmy_migrate script to move your account over.
It doesn’t suffer from the small RAM and CPU of the VM that ran Apollo Town, either 😀
