Those are even worse! They did that here and it’s the stupidest “solution” I’ve ever seen. They took away the plastic bags and started charging everyone for paper bags that were always free before. Then they brought in bags that use 100x more plastic and continued charging people. The whole thing feels like a ploy by the grocers to add yet another upcharge to grocery shopping. Fuck!

It sounds like your manager is a liar, and has ulterior motives, so I would be cautious about trying to have an honest conversation with him. He’s already used your basic demeanor against you before. Anything you said during this conversation would be subjected to the same scrutiny, and possibly used against you, instead of helping you. I’m sorry you have to deal with this. It sucks.

Since you’re working at a place for rich people, there are likely people there who are above the rules. Those types are typically pretty petty and vindictive. You probably had to enforce policy against one of them and they complained and said they want you fired. It doesn’t matter that you were following the rules, those types don’t have rules enforced against them and anyone who does so will be punished. You will never be given the real reason. The person who complained will be all nice and smiles to your face, and then go behind your back and get you fired.

That’s pure speculation and might not have any basis in reality, but I encountered something similar working in a swanky place before. I only found out the real reason because one of my coworkers slipped and told me about it before my manager started suddenly inventing reasons to fire me. Then they tried to deny my unemployment too. I barely escaped homelessness while waiting for the unemployment arbitration. Thankfully I won that case and got a couple months of back pay all at once which saved my ass.

Whatever the cause, file unemployment for the month they didn’t schedule you, and find a new job ASAP. It’s miserable working where there are rules, and then unspoken rules for certain people who have more money.

No. Well, not KDE. My laptop with Arch and Gnome is a rock. My gaming desktop with Arch and KDE Plasma is a glitchy, flickery, laggy, mess. I was just thinking about giving up and going back to Gnome last night. I can’t even do simple website development without both the ide and the browser constantly flickering and text input lagging. Ive done everything that the wiki says to do to fix Nvidia issues, but it still sucks. It’s frustrating because I was using Pop on this computer for 3 years without any issues at all. I switched to Arch a couple weeks ago and it’s been non-stop glitches.

My city has more water than we can ever use, so I’m going to continue having shower thoughts, tyvm.
