I do love me some “rock opera” when you’ve got fangy guitars doing big epic sounds. Its the sort of concert I’d go to if I enjoyed going out. But I dont, so I wont.

Avantasia is a German supergroup metal opera project created by Tobias Sammet, vocalist of the band Edguy. It has been characterized as a rock opera, as it features the contributions of various vocalists and musicians and it consists of concept albums. The name is a blend of the words Avalon and fantasia (‘fantasy’) and describes “a world beyond human imagination” (a quotation from the booklet of the debut album).

The vocalist on this particular track is Jørn Lande which is a name I can really get behind. I love letters that are too important to just be letters and end up decorated with assorted filigree. In this instance, the “o” gets a sharp little slash across it which is nice.

Jørn Marumsrud Lande (born 31 May 1968) is a Norwegian hard rock and heavy metal singer. He is known for his work with the bands Ark, Beyond Twilight, Millenium, Vagabond, The Snakes, and most notably with power metal band Masterplan. He is also the most recurrent guest singer of the international supergroup Avantasia, and has worked as lead and guest singer in several projects.
