You know how they say that individual changes are really nothing compared to what the corporations are doing? In scale, it even applies to her. That’s how ridiculous corporations are.

I still don’t know if that is a troll meme or if people seriously don’t know the risks of co2 emissions.

Most people do, and conservative politicians definitely do. But they don’t want to say anything that will effect the oil industry in a negative way.

      Conservatives think that

      checks notes

Taylor Swift has rigged the Super Bowl in favor of Kansas City and is going to use that event to endorse Joe Biden.

      No I’m not kidding.

At this point you can assume that most everything you’ll hear about her over the next six months will be conservative astroturfing.

Swift does own a private jet. So naturally everyone who five minutes ago didn’t give half a shit about the environment is going to use that as a cudgel regarding the environment. They’re safe to ignore.

No, the NFL rigged the superbowl. It’s the Pentagon that manipulated the relationship with the football player who will win the rigged superbowl which will elevate Taylor Swift on a national platform (which she previously did not have) to endorse Joe Biden

She had a spurt of extensive jet use and she said she loaned it to friends so each trip wasn’t her.

        NFL nonsense is wild tho.

Kremlin smear campaign designed to discourage celebrities from supporting Joe Biden’s campaign since he’s the key opponent of their asset: Donald Trump.

I actually only have a problem with her polluting issues and for being a billionaire people like. I’m glad she’s making some of her fans pay attention to politics, but that doesn’t make her infallible.

It’s probably trolling to see how many idiots follow along. I don’t care for her music and her fans are annoying, but I don’t listen to her music or hang out with her fans so idgaf, and even if I did hang out with them they’re not required to be in lockstep with what I like to be a friend. Pointless and seemingly artificial dividing lines. 🤷

She’s wealthy and successful, so Lemmy hates her, and she’s a successful woman with opinions on politics, so the right hates her.

Basically everyone’s seething at Taylor Swift for various reasons.

Yeah totally true that’s why yesterday there was a thread about the reason for her popularity in which like 70% of the comments were neutral or positive about her.

Guys. Have you looked at my post history? I don’t why so many of you think this is a Conservative smear of Taylor when I constantly post about capitalism and its flaws. Taylor swift is the embodiment of one percent wealth trickling upwards into a mediocre career.

There is an argument to be made that pointing to individual responsibility or scapegoating of individuals as hypocrites works as propaganda against doing something about climate change.

Climate change adaptation needs far reaching systemic changes. You’d need to make a plan, a partially planned economy, redesign cities and neighborhoods, tear down and build up factories, redistribute wealth and land all sorts of things. So one way to divert from that is to make people believe it’s up to the individual. Something like a tracker to track your individual CO2 budget. Or pointing to someone using airplanes to go to a climate conference. Or taylor swift jet setting around the world. Realistically there are no good alternatives except to live the life of a recluse (The Good Place has a funny story arc about this).

So the logic here would be: Making people believe Taylor Swift is the real problem leads to people not thinking about the near impossible changes we would need to make.

Of course, we’re not going to make any changes anyway so shitpost away :D

PS: It would be interesting to know how much CO2 it is if you distribute it to the visitors of her concerts instead - instead of increasing her CO2 budget, like any product it should increase the CO2 budget of the end consumer.

You don’t have to be a conservatwat to see that this is a shitty practice. I don’t know OP’s history, but we can all agree that private jets are bullshit for the env.

So apparently this is because she basically uses her jet as an uber for folks who are rich enough to fly on a private jet but not enough to own one. So her jet is polluting a bunch but she’s not on it for a lot of it.
