Had a friend who had their car stolen once. They got it back after about 2 weeks, but of course it ran like a sack of shit due to the flogging it got. I think they sold it for scrap due to a lack of comprehensive insurance. Not a nice feeling, they said it felt “gross” driving it, cause they don’t exactly know what was done to the car.
